Editing Translations

With IniLingo it's very simple to edit the translated versions of your website. You can either view the text as a whole and do changes, or you can edit parts of your website on the website itself.

Viewing and editing your translations

To edit your translations first the translation should already be present, so you (or somebody else) must have had loaded the page you want to edit, as that is when the translation itself gets created.

When this was done, select your project and select Translations at the top.

Now click on the Edit button next to the language you want to edit.

A new dialog pops up with the various pages of your website already translated listed on the left.

If you click on any of those, the translated sentences on the given page appear.

You can now make changes on the right as you would in any table.

The one thing you have to make sure is that the , and marks needs to match the original English. These mark formatting (like bold or italic parts), line breaks, links or similar things.

Note: All changes created here are only seen by you at this point. If you want to publish these changes, you need to click on the Publish changes button in the lower right corner.

You can also mark lines as Approved to make sure that you know which lines were already reviewed. To do this, just click on the checkmark on the right next to the line. The line becomes green. If you click on the checkmark again, the approved status gets deleted.

To approve all lines at once in a file, click on the Approve all button at the bottom. You also have to click on the Publish Changes button to have these changes saved.

If the same sentence appears on multiple pages, it only gets translated once. Because of this you will see that if you change a line on one page or set it to Approved, these changes will show up on other pages.

Visual editing

In IniLingo you can do quick corrections on the page itself. We call this Visual Editing.

For this to happen, open your project and click on the Edit button next to the language you want to edit.

You will see the editor window where you can review and edit translations in context.

On the left side you will see the various pages which were already translated in this language.

Select one you want to edit.

Then press the Visual Editor button at the bottom.

The selected page will open in a new tab in your browser in the edited language.

In this editing mode if you click on any text on the page, a new dialog opens where you can edit the translation of the given line.

Make sure you don't mess with the , and marks while editing and when you are done click on the Save button.

You will see that the translation is corrected on the page now.

If you want to navigate to somewhere else on the page click on the Stop editing button and navigate as you wish. In this mode you can click on buttons and open menus without triggering the translation window.

When you want to start editing again, just click on the Start Editing button.

Note: All changes created here are only seen by you at this point. If you want to publish these changes, you need to go back to the Editor window and click on the Publish changes button.
